Somebody did it here. There is a tread about it. I am just not sure if he is around anymore.

Just as an update for everyone. I brought it to Accumoto to have the suspension looked over. Couldn't find any leaks on the lines or the struts. However he did find that the compressor was not outputting much of anything. Turns out the intake hose got bent and crimped somehow and so the compressor would run, struggle, then shutdown from almost overheating right away. Replaced the hose and now the car seems much happier, no more compressor overheats. VCDS still shows a leak in the system so I will be replacing the control valve body as a couple people here have recommended and go from there.

Also while the compressor is working and output the correct pressure now it does have a harsh sound to it, contemplating replacing that as well.

Before replacing that compressor, they have rebuild kits for a tenth of the cost. You may want to consider that. EBay has one

Also search back for posts regarding an unglued magnet in the electric motor housing. The rebuild kit from WABCO does not help with that; JB Weld does.

Default Height Roulette.

2006 A8 L 75k miles.

After parking in a parking lot with the concrete bumpers, I left the car for 60 seconds. (not running)
As I pulled out, the horrific sound of scraping and snapping could be heard.

Apparently the car lowered itself onto the curb during my 60 second sprint...
The damage: the lower valance ripped mostly off, 2 insets sitting in the lot..

So.. what happened here?
Weight: 7/8 full of fuel, no passengers.
not a beep or scrape as I pulled into the spot, the tires were at least 8" from parking curb,

Called Audi customer care and they refused to try to understand the issue, The nutty lady kept repeating that there were no issues with the bumper...Clearly indicating she had no clue what I was saying.

So, 1k USD out of pocket as deductable, and the *** freezing of riding my Harley while the A8 is repaired.

Again.. what is going on here? I've had no trouble with adaptive suspension before.

Thanks, looking forward to plausible issues.

Self leveling more than likely.
My D3 did that too, but luckily I noticed it and was ultra careful afterward.

If you have APS/RVC it's a good habit to turn it on when approaching a curb to hear the tones.
To this day I check every single time I park... and never ever overhang anything.

Default Experienced with A6, A8D2, always park in front of the concrete Stopper

Sorry to hear about this problem with Audi cars. Before, Audi paid for the designs, but not with the air suspension... You may check.
My wife actually puts it on lift every time she backs out of the parking lot because of the dip and concrete stopper.
