Horrible sound, but the car is off...

I'm close to ordering the compressor and trying to install myself, but I heard the fuse for this is either under the carpet or behind the dash, does anyone know where for a 2007?
Also, the Parking Brake Calibration theme is giving me pause, can someone describe the circumstances and sound this makes?

We'll, the dealership has me swearing up a storm.
Their diagnosis is worn bushings... So apparently when the car is parked with engine off, the bushings suddenly start making noises on there own and spew fumes into the cabin.
Next time I'll just pay you guys the diagnosis fee, I get quicker and better results here in the forum.

Parking brake calibration: For me most common the first or or especially second engine shut down after a multi hundred mile trip, but it can happen any time--just depends on when the counter hits the magic #. Somewhere in the 400 to 1000 mile bracket. Happens after key off AND door locking as I recall. Thus you are outside vehicle basically. Then you hear the motors whirring pretty loudly, well above even built up area street background noise. About 30 seconds in, you hear it hit the stop point as motor comes to a halt and noise changes up. Then it reverses out and all done. More like a small belt drive sound with a motor along side than a higher speed drill or other power tool. You can trigger same thing w/ VCDS basically with a pad release and then reclamp. They are now somewhat quieter; our Q5 does it but not as noticeable. Ditto on a D4 loaner I had that did it once over the couple hundred miles I had it.

"I'd refuse to pay a diagnosis fee if that's the answer they came up with. You may need bushings, but that's not what you took it in for. If they can't diagnose the problem you came in for, they ought not charge you for it. I'd get it if you came in with something overly vague, but you had specific symptoms with limited possibilities of what it could be"
I have paid not a diagnosis fee but $275 for a CEL due to a connector which they were not able to identify, they wanted me to leave the car at the dealership for more investigation and eventually remove the intake manifold to look at some O2 sensors ( already replaced for no reason) at a minimum cost of $1000....obviously I took the car home and fix it by myself....lesson learned !

Replacing WABCO is really is not that difficult. If you take your time it may take about an hour to remove it and about 30-45 minutes to put it in. You DO NOT need to take off front bumper, or even the bracket above the compressor. You just need some small 10MM sockets to get in to remove the nuts. I always did remove the blue air reservoirs right above the pump.
