How can one determine if their 2006 A8L 4.2 has sport suspension or standard?
Hello everyone,
At 156,000 miles my front right air spring gave out. I heard a pop and now that corner is dropping.
I need to order a refurbished air spring. How can I tell whether my car has standard or 'sport' suspension?
Also, any opinions on the benefits of going with Arnott Industries' rebuilt suspension versus the cheaper RMT Master Tech rebuilds for sale on Ebay?
Thanks in advance,
-JT

Thanks, my MMI says 'dynamic' at lowest setting, not 'sport. That's a shame since the dealer who sold it to me said it had the sport package.
No, I'm not the poster mentioned. I've had pretty good luck with my A8L. Since I bought it at 130,000 miles I've done a timing belt package job (routine), replaced a suspension component, and replaced a few parking sensors. Otherwise no work has been needed. The suspension leak is brand new today. I've done a few DIY air spring replacements on my mother's Audi allroad so I know the routine. It's not too tough of a job. The part is a bit expensive though.
Thanks again,

Not sure if it different than my 2007, but "Sport" is listed in the sub heading of my MMI display

Apart from what the mmi says, if you have sport suspension then there will be no change in ride hight from comfort to dynamic, if you don't have sport there will be a change in ride height between settings.

If you say...but you might want to look at the build sticker and at the part #'s on the strut units. If you didn't get the original window sticker--and just as you suggest the display is not the last word on the subject--well the current car set up isn't necessarily either. As in, back in the day some folks used to retrofit paddles and the wheel. Coupled with a VCDS drop (likely if someone modded wheel and paddles), could be hard to tell apart casually without seeing build sticker or looking carefully at the suspension modes and what car does height wise at each step.
