Remove speed limiter
I have a 04. My speed limiter is 135 mph. I was hoping it would let me go faster than that one day but it wont let me. Anyway Do anyone know a where I can take it to remove that governor. Its getting on my nerve. I want to be able to beat my boy CL 500. He keep pasting me at 135 when the governor kick in. I live in NJ.

Lemmiwinks (shareware) plus serial (not USB) VAG COM cable
Just search "Lemmiwinks" together with "Audi" on the web, which will get you back to some Audiworld and some Fourtitude posts.
But be safe..you could also lower the governor from 130 if you want to.

Works a treat too.
Done mine last week as well as a mild tune to my LPG fuel conversion. You can't half pull some timing with gas

Some.
Some. I used to have the download somewhere, but I think junked that laptop several years ago after I wiped the drive.
I used a (very balky) old serial cable off an old laptop dock and actually did get the C5 4.2 to mod with it. I could clearly tweak the governor, and pull it way down if I wanted to for that matter. Teenage kid at the time driving it, and I thought about it! I could also change the fueling and timing offset as I think I mentioned earlier. They were fixed or percentage offsets, rather than true "maps" I had years of weird tranny and MAF issues with that car so didn't push it. Later on I straightened that out, but by then I got the W12 and had the teenage driver worries so definitely didn't want any GREATER than stock.
If your question is just about the governor, yet it definitely had the ability to tweak, and I successfully entered in values to the ECU and it stuck. Since I never ran the C5 out to 130 since I am always on public well traveled US roads, I could not ultimately validate it on the top end. I think I may have pulled it down at one point to like 75 just to try, and IIRC it did exactly what it was supposed to; kind of like bumping into SAFE mode w/ the tranny 4K limiter feel wise.

I've tried it with Ross-Tech USB cable. I first configured driver to work like COM port 4. Unfortunately no luck. Now I am not sure why it doesn't work. I must buy one from China and try again.
Edit: VCDS works with reconfigured driver.

When I tried it, it was cable
In that era, I had the prior VAG COM pre-CAN cable. My 2000 A6 4.2 was also pre-CAN. It would not connect; I remember trying that.
I also had a really ancient RS-232 cable from a precursor diagnostic company, which did make the connection. Driving it from an old laptop, in turn I had to use an old desktop dock for it that actually had an RS-232 port. No idea why it had to have RS-232 serial instead of USB, but a number of contemporaneous posts said that.
I still have that old cable hanging on a hook gathering dust. Ross-Tech used to sell a pre-CAN RS-232 cable too if you remember. Maybe one of those is in a dust bin somewhere too.

It has to be RS-232 because Lemmiwinks requires COM port 1-8, can't recognize USB. Reconfigured driver shows as COM port 4 but it can't connect. It is same like there is no cable at all: "BAD CPU RESPONSE"
