Default I'm Back!! New Audi

Hey guys!

I've always been poking around the forums, answering and helping here and there, but not as active as I was when I had my W12. I still own the 05 4.2 A8; going strong. I've seen this board go through many changes, unfortunately many bad changes as of lately as the cars get cheaper and the demographic of owners becomes more towards the "big rims and chrome everywhere" type of owners. Although there are still the owners who appreciate and love the A8's for the beautiful car they are (stock)

On to my point, I traded my A8L W12 for a 2013 Lexus ES 350 loaded; mainly due the the extremely high cost of ownership on the W12. Drove the ES 350 for the past year and it is definitely a nice car for the demographic it is aimed for. The car had a great interior, nice up to date infotainment system, plush ride, very reliable engine, and Lexus' quality. It was great, but not for me. I seemed to constantly be pushing the car to it's limits and driving it like it was a sportier car; which it definitely isn't. So I've been looking at used S4s, new A8s, M5s, M3s and I finally traded in the Lexus for a car that I so far, knock on wood, love!

Behold my 2013 Audi S5!

Good to have you back. Although I don't think the D3 will ever befall quite so badly the sad fate of the many similar vintage s-class, 7-series and range rovers you see around.

Just not a "pimp" enough image which is a good thing in my book.

Default Good re-intro.

Welcome back!

Having a 20153 Q5, I getting to know things shared with its cousin the A/S5's, and for that matter a lot of the electronics in the current D4's.

Congrats Brozee and nice ride. Please post more pics especially interior. Surprisingly, the 05 D3 does not look out of place or outdated next to the 2013!

Also, I'm sure your insurance took a leap!

There you are. I was wondering why you haven't been lurking around the forum for a while. But anyways what a badass ride you have there. Big step-up from the ES350. So which car is driven the most or who drives which?? Glad to see that you still have the D3

Not even close to as nice as this pic

The S5 I got was at the bottom range of what KBB stated and best of all it has a warranty! Also the car has audi care so all scheduled maintenance, wipers, fluids, are completely covered to 45k which includes a DSG trans flush. came pretty well equipped with the nappa leather upgrade, advanced key, upgraded wheels with summer tires, license plate delete, all-weather mats, and a few other things I can't think of right now. The MMI is much nicer, and even better in the D4 obviously. The voice control system IMO is still as useless as it was in the MMI 2g; I never ever used it. Bluetooth is better and the streaming without the dongle is nice. Backup camera quality is pretty crappy and was on par with the W12's I had in my 07 but it is more fisheye'd I really like the mods/tweaks I was able to do with VCDS though. Mainly the nice video in motion that was enabled by simply entering a code in VCDS instead of buying modules, re-tuning and updating systems. Overall I like the car very much.

That's a nice car Brozee. I was going to ask if the S5 had a six speed manual but I just saw your DSG trans comment....

I recently returned from a 7700 mile road trip with BallyKid. We went to Salt Lake City, Reno, Seattle, San Francisco, Silicon Valley (Met with MP 4.2 + 6.0 and tested out his W12 while he took us on a tour of the silicon valley sites where most of the technology companies got started).

From there we stopped at Laguna Seca where the Porsche Collector's Club happened to be meeting. About 500 Porsches and with the exception of the Cayenne's and Panamera's, all had sticks. An awesome sight indeed. Then we took the Pacific Coast Highway down to Tinsel Town and then to San Diego for a few days of R&R. Then up to the place where Bally is based, Las Vegas before we headed home.

After Salt Lake City, we took my '04 A8 onto the Bonneville Salt Flats and the Bonneville Int'l Speedway. Check out the pictures; note, the car had 216,000 miles on the clock, transmission was kept in 5th gear, and of course the speed limiter has been deleted. Both my son & I were in the car, it was loaded with luggage and about 100# of pinball machine parts we were taking to a friend in Temecula. Not too bad for a ten year old Audi.

That is salt, not snow on the car.

I plan to eventually post a video on youtube.

Were you running 170 and taking pictures? But glad the 10 year old car can still stretch it's wing and fly.
