Insert Sat Nav Disk
Hi guys, my d3 keeps saying insert sat nav disk; the disk is in; I have even tried the old sat nav disk from 2005 that came with the car no avail. Any ideas?
Much appreciated.

I just did this last night. Disassembled and blew it out with air. Seemed to work OK at loading up different locations. I tried the disc cleaner, but the fault would occasional come back.

For OP, per the sticky please post your year and location. Relevant to my reply here, and often w/ posts in general.
So--for both OP and the rest of the crowd--how about the little known/remembered TSB? Also depends on your year. Contrary to TSB talking about only 2004's I can confirm even my early build 2006 W12 had the "old" firmware--it says right on p. 1 production change was in July 2005 and mine was built a few months earlier. See: http://uberlame.com/a6_tsb/Navigatio...tion%20DVD.pdf for some info, but then buried in a different TSB is the info about the firmware update and the Audi update disc part number: http://uberlame.com/a6_tsb/Navigatio...I%20screen.pdf
Anyway, I get the error maybe every few months, and have tried the disassembly cleaning routine w/ maybe limited marginal improvement but no cure all. For like six bucks, I sprang for the update disc mentioned in the second TSB and installed about 10 days ago. Too early to tell if any result, but I know from running it the firmware did update as described, and that per the TSB pre-install check I had the suspect firmware beforehand.

I had this error on my old A6. Tried taking Nav drive apart and cleaning it. It would only function no longer than 3 minutes after a cleaning. I wound up replacing the Nav drive Then it worked as it should.
