I've owned a 2004 A8L for about 2 months now. Once in a while, I'll attempt to start the car and it will seem like the battery is dead. According to MMI, the battery is ok. Once I click the key back and restart- it fires back up. Any ideas as to what it could be? Thanks.

My dealer could not "duplicate the condition" which was their answer for just about everything so I learned to live with it.

Very common on the '04, it will start on the second turn...happens to me once or twice a month. They looked at starter, alternator, connections, etc...no issues. Battery is at 100%.

This happened to me this morning and happens about 2-3 times a month. I can never duplicate this with my SA.

Mine did the same thing till one morning I came outside to go to work and it didnt start at all. I got it towed to the dealer and they said it was the starter. After it was replace it didnt do it again. I had the car for like month and it did it the whole time till that special day. So hopefully you wont be in a bad spot when it dosent start.

Mine does it occasionally and got to the point where it didn't start.

Replaced brake pedal switch,erased codes on ECU and fine ever since?

it doesn't seem to actually engage the starter the first try, then acts normally the second try. No help from dealer. It sounds like there should be a TSB with the problem being as common as it appears to be. Anybody know of one?
