Dealer fixed the same problem on my '04 A8L. About 2-3 times a month the ignition would start to crank for a brief moment when I inserted the key and then shut everything off. Took it to the dealer and they found a TSB for the problem. Audi has a fix for it for sure. The theft deterrent was shutting down the power to the ignition. The problem has never happened again after program updates to system by Dealer.

Default I'll be the first one here to say

That I have yet to experience that problem. Well, except for the time I accidentally used my VW Beetle key instead of my A8 key in an attempt to start the car. The ignition turned but the car seemed dead. Car was unlocked so that explains how I was able to get in it.

Remember I bought mine used after a lease turn-in. I also had an MMI update performed by the dealer when I was having a Sirius tuner installed. They told me they did it after the fact at no charge so who was I to complain.

Default Aye...good to see you guys post.

Almost went with a D3, but the devil got a hold of me.

I'm recovering from a heart cath that I had this week, and wishing for some warmer weather.

Take care kids!

Default Be careful... El diablo makes us do strange things sometimes =) LOL

Hope your recovery goes smoothly. I'll trade you my hot flashes for your warmer weather!!! I seem to be stuck in perpetual summer :-p Randy's been fighting the flu all week and has been freezing... while I'm trying to convince him it's healthier to sleep with the windows open!

Take care and be well =)

Default Me too

Same issue here. So far the dealer has replaced the ignition switch as well as the coolant temp sensor, but it still does it. It'll be back in again for try number three.

Default Re: Me too

Pep, it is a software problem. See my post below. The dealer did not replace anything on my car to fix the problem. They told me there was a TSB on the problem from Audi and updated the software. So far so good after 5 months.
