Default Low fuel warning

The first week I had the car there was a verbal warning to refuel, ever since I just get the chime and gas pump light. Any idea how to get it to speak again?

Take some more LSD?

Try the other key. The car remembers individual settings by key. What year A8? (Hint: Fill in your profile)

2007.

Even if it remembers the key shouldn't there be a place to set this in MMI.

My guess is you had NAV running when it spoke.

Be cautious of running the fuel low - those pumps are not cheap or easy to replace

I have not been able to get my 2004 A8L to talk outside of navigation mode? How do I get the vehicle to talk? I have the button on the steering wheel but it usually just says "Pardon" like it doesn't understand me, lol.

It doesn't unless you use SDS

Speak slowly and clearly.
It's pretty good on a D3 but not trained to the user or as interactive as later MMI revisions.

Seriously, what is SDS? Mine just says"Phone not installed" or something. Didn't know there was a possibility of other functions by voice! I would love to speak rather than use the tortuous nav wheel-twist input!
Not getting my hopes up, though, as I am on software version 0.0001...

Also, interestingly, when I push the onstar help button, I get the same recording of an onstar call between
n operator and some guy with an accent. I'll have to youtube it. Strangest thing.

Nice to see you back Jake; not enough going wrong with the new D4? It is(all kidding aside) thoughtful of you to share your knowledge here.

Yes very much like the LSD that lady MiMI takes right before I push the button and have a 'WTF do you think I just said' moment.

SDS = Speech Dialog System, the button on the wheel activates it if you have it.
I think even yours should have a limited version even though you're running such an old MMI FW.
See the recent post about K box from our friend with the Regenlichtsensor problem.

LOL, I almost fell off my chair when Louis said I was more active here than on D4 forum.
There's just not a lot going on there other than 'which one are you ordering' and 'meh, just take it back and make them fix it'
Slightly different environs when you don't have to fix anything and trade up before needing new tires.

I know it's been quite a while since I had a D3 but have seen some questions here lately that looked like I might be able to help on.
Been spending quite a lot of time at Ross-Tech forum lately.

Here is the booth at automechanika in Frankfurt this week:
