What I posted was for BVJ, BFM, BGK. There is a different picture for BSM, BSB engine codes. In that case it looks like the unit mounts on top of the support.

FWIW, while I buy from audiusaparts and know they have the second rate slides most do, one doesn't. VW/Audi being well, Audi control freaks as always, they keep EKTA locked up, along with manuals and a variety of other things. Concept of useful widely disseminated info. eludes them. While said sarcastically, this will not serve them well in future auto electronics and autonomous. But regardless, Jim Ellis Audi parts do have the "real" EKTA slides since they paid the big bucks/Eur to get them. These days I skip most all of the above though and just use one off the Euro EKTA sites. Here is a parts illustration from one of them if it helps:

If the parts are assembled correctly, then it would be impossible to tighten the bolts/nuts too much and have it affect the compressor suspension. Put another way, the bolts are supposed to be fully tightened (metal to metal), yet have the compressor free to move on the springs.

Did you ever get this problem resolved? I have a 2007 A8 that has the same problem with vibration and noise from the air compressor. The previous owner was a mechanic who told me he replaced the compressor. He said he got the new part from the dealer for $700 but it would not surprise me if he installed it wrong.

The compressor is supposed to float on springs. If you cannot move the compressor around a bit, then it is installed incorrectly.

It was installation error for me. The compressor was moving around too much (but it is designed to move around a little bit). I went back in with one of the hardware kits, and haven't had any problems since. I also just replaced the Miessler one with an OEM compressor, and no noises.

Here's my (very dirty) air compressor for reference. Look at how the mounts are set up, and see if yours looks off.

I put a Miessler in a Jaguar XJR. It was installed after removing the original several times. I am certain it is correct. It is much louder than stock.
But I like hearing it run.gives me a tip if one of the shocks is leaking. The Bilstein air springs on the XJ Jaguars fail more frequently than the ones on an A8. There is an issue with the top of the unit leaking and not the air bag. This seems more common than bag leaks.
