That's a great question, I too would like to know where it came from, USA or other, as I have not had one unit from Europe go into CP, only one that I purchased here in the states and the one I removed from my USA model went into CP, which makes me wonder if European models have CP.

So I just buy Euro units and flash them to US firmware.

I did it myself with a unit bought from a junkyard here in the USA. Looks like I'm getting quite a few fault codes from the VAG report but everything is working except for the phone.

I've purchased one from Germany and it had CP. There is software that can clear CP offline, set your millage at will, program your keys and much more. Problem is that it is really expensive. Obviously not for some professionals, whatever profession that may be.
