The only log I have, doesn't have this info, only a piece around the battery regulator.

I'll have a check this evening and report back.

I'd hoped for the simple answer of........just twiddle this **** whilst pressing that button 9 times and it will restart ;-)

Keyless entry shutting off is one of the first signs too the battery management is kicking in if it thinks there is a low charge--happens at the (first) 50% down step IIRC.

As other reply mentioned, there is some kind of power mngt update; my dealer did it on my 2006 W12 during one service visit, though I don't know details.

If issue continues after charging, battery most likely suspect from numerous posts on board when D3's start acting up electrically. If battery is original, figure any battery more than about 4 years old is a candidate for replacement if issues start cropping up.

I wish there was a way to swap the part bfore spending $1200. I'm leaning toward finding a used one at this point but still open for suggestions.

Hello Joe,
They're shotgunning the parts as we speak - that part may not be the one - I don't know much about the MMI system YET, but when I was reading to retrofit my back up camera - here is what I understand - Everything in the MOST ring must go through and configured through this CAN BUS GATEWAY 4E0 907 468 "X"

Inside this box - there is an optical chips that needs to be programmed with all the devices connected to it -

Now my experience with this box is this - I took out the gateway from Q7 and put on my A8L to try - programmed it to fit A8L - put it back to Q7 -
turn on ignition - no lights on dash - no click on ignition - NO MMI -
Put it back to the A8L restore to original - put back to Q7 - turn on ignition - nothing - use remote to open and close door - turn on ignition again - everything is back -

On the A8L - the MMI buttons don't work - MMI came up - stays at the last device I was on - Plugged and checked all optical cables - clear the codes - everything is back to normal again .

I don't know where the box that cost $1200. But as I know, all the stuff for the MMI is behind the glove box -

Now, I have 2 of these extra boxes laying around - E & F model - open yours up and let me know which one you have - I'll be happy to send you one of mine for you to try - if it works - send me the money I paid for it $103 + my shipping - if not - just send it back with my cost of sending it to you.

If they shotgunning parts on your cost - why don't you do it yourself - cheaper -

Cheers,

Louis

Hello Louis,

That MMI control head that you added the FBAS to is the $1200.00 box.

Johnny,
Really Thanks - then buy an old one and put it on - get one with FBAS so you can retrofit the camera later :-)

Even better,

Cheers,

Louis

OK...so I had a look at mine and it would appear that the version which I am running is H12 0510

One of the other things which I have also noted is that my Nav DVD is flashing red after the ignition has been on and off.

I've checked all fuses....all good
I've checked the battery voltage....it's in pretty good shape according to my battery tester and is holding 100% voltage.

At a bit of a loss of where to look next as my VCDS just cannot reach any of the systems.

I appreciate all of your thoughts and comments on this one guys.

Default Diagnostic Tech. & All-round nice guy

Hello guys, this my fist time on your great site. just wondering what you did to resolve your MMI issue. I have an A6 Avant 3.0 Allroad 4F. Total infotainment failure and battery dischage issues also.
All my problems seem to point to "07 Control Head"
Any help with this will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Not really right forum but let me try. Does it have optical BAS? If yes than scan it first. It could be that one of modules in the ring is dead. In that case nothing works and MMI is constantly rebooting draining the battery.
