MMI fault - Sound System Fuse - CAN - Optical Errors
Hi
I was travelling along a few days ago when the radio switched off along with all MMI functions
I reset but nothing.
When you switch the ON/OFF button on the MMI screen switches on briefly then goes off.
VCDS performed shows the system functions cannot be reached.
Optical BUS diagnostics showed an electrical error on the 47-sound system along with 2 optical errors on the CAN gateway and the sound system.
I checked all fuses and found the top most fuse (30AMP) dead in the left side boot/trunk where the NAV unit lives. Replaced and keep blowing so i assume this is the effect causing the MMI to stop.
Any ideas on the cause of the blowing fuse? No apparent wetness around but I suppose, living in the UK, it has been damp for months over the winter....
Any tips on what to approach next?
Thanks

All this + TV + navigation + always fresh maps + texting + phone + games + camera + + + ... is in my phone and fits in my small pocket. This guys are in the stone age. Prices of their way outdated technology are outrageous and we are still happy about that. Something is weird here.

Measure resistance between Power and Ground to make sure there's no short. Check those electrolytic can capacitors.
If the fuse keeps blowing up, it's the power short on the device that causes the problem.
Cheers,
Louis

Thanks Louis
Yes it looks to be a short. I get no resistance between the two large pins on the board (1 and 2). I cant see any issues on the board. Is there a workaround or is it new board time?

So I got the board fixed by svt services in Edinburgh.
Figured out the problem - charged the battery whilst in the vehicle and it must have blown the transistors on the amp board That's the first and last time I charge a battery whilst connected in a car - dont know why Audi say to do that in the owners manual..grrrrr...
Anyhoo - SVT have replaced the output modules and the polarity diode.
Now I have it back but I think it needs coding on VCDS. The MMI works again but no sound - just loud static on some speakers. I think it needs recoding -anyone know the correct codes? Rosstech just says 00000013 I think but when I enter that it says incorrect.....
I am thinking that maybe the repair wasnt quite right and this may have affected the outcome...

If you look at the pins out, the connector only shows speakers connections - If this is the amplifier, then there must be inputs and outputs - inputs go in but don't get amplified - nothing out? Or the input circuits are fried - For the power to be dead - amplifier circuit(s) must be blown - More to do.
Cheers,
Louis

I have got the exactly the same problem, did you replace the bose amp to resolve? Audi come back with a £1400 fix??? Bless them they cleaned the car to soften the blow though!
Many thanks,
Neil
