NICE - how much is the new blower? What's the symptom? DEAD or erratic?

Cheers,

Louis

It would run for a few minutes and stop, I even spun it back up with a long rod, and it lasted an other two weeks, but then back to the few minutes of run time, cost was $207.00

Classic electrical motor failure, once it warms up and builds up more resistance and stops.

On mine (thread was posted) I would get blwer operation for a few minutes and then nothing. It got progressively worse. Some days no motor operation and some days the motor would work for a minute or two before crapping out.
My '87 5000 had the blower fail twice. First time I just replaced the brushes which were worn way down. I'm guessing that is what was wrong with the blower motor on my A8 although I never took this motor apart.... Yet.

Dealer part or after market (new - rebuilt?) - How many miles does you car have now?

Thanks,

Louis

i think this MAY be the thread to answering why i joined here, so any help would be appreciated...

my 2004 A8 L AC system has been sporadic over the last few, VERY hot weeks, and here are the symptoms:

low fan speed lasts longer,
higher fan speed kind of ebbs and then goes out...
hard left on the steering wheel kicks the unit to blowing again (i thought this was weird?!?) but it is still touch and go...

had the shop recharge the AC unit, which had no effect on the operation... same symptoms afterwards...

anybody have any suggestions? is this what you were experiencing too? thanks for your help in advance...
