I downloaded and burned them to do the updates. I had to go to 3360 first as my software was very old. Worked without problems. Having said that dealer discs are cheap insurance to avoid bricking the MMI.

Since I'm on 1190. I will upgrade to 3360 first. wait awhile and them upgrade again.
they could not find what I was talking about until I gave hem the part number.
One guy said he had never herd of upgrading the MMI software ever.
Any way, I found a trusted CD and will try that tomorrow as well as change my brake pads.
I'm going to hear to the local Cars & Coffee meet tomorrow and see if has done it before.

Wanted to do my brakes today, but the rear are on order so I upgraded MMI to 3360. Even though it was stated that it is possible to skip 3360. I had the CD so I went ahead and did it.
Then used VCDS to restore the Battery Level Meter in System area

While you have your VCDS... Take screen shots or video capture
every pages of the MMI options you have, including can bus, in case later you need to add some components, you will avoid CP if you checked everything according to the original memory.
