Lights don't turn off

Lights don't turn off
On occasion the lights on my 2005 A8 do not completely shut off. It is not the headlights but the 'parking lights'. When I shut down and open the door an alarm sound goes off. It is similar sound to not completely locking the steering column.
The light selector does not have an impact. I can manually turn the lights off and it doesn't remedy the situation.
When it happens, I need to restart the car, drive a little and shut it back down. The lights will then shut off.
Has anyone had an issue like this before?
Any advice.
