Default Panicked on tire wear, give me a reality check please

Replacing front brakes today, noticed extreme tire wear on inside edges, both front tires almost down to the cords. Rear tires have a strange wavy wear pattern.

I have already replaced the front upper control arms.

This can't be normal for 9 months on these tires, right?

Here is the rear tire, can you see the wavy, high/low pattern on the inside edge?

I would also suspect wheel alignment, worn shocks, and probably tire balancing issues. I suggest having it checked by reputable wheel shop. The wheel alignment was probably bad from the start or early during the life of the new tires. Worn shocks are most likely the cause of the wavy high-low patterns.

it's going to the tire shop tomorrow, but i'm suspecting they are going to give me the "it's your car, not the tires" line....

Good luck! Keep us posted on the outcome of your car's visit to the tire shop.

I can't really make out the issues from the pics so am just going from the text mostly.

Yes, get alignment checked but if you got it done with new upper control arms and it was all four wheels, not that likely in 9 months time assuming no serious hits or parking by Braille.

Then based on description, just general diagnostics would probably say look at the tie rods next. A few posters have noted some wear issues with inner ones IIRC, but only sporadic. Obviously visually inspect the lower arms too, probably more on the bushing side.

In the back, first be sure if it was four wheel aligned before. If not, that's next step. If it was 4 wheel aligned, look it over at all the bolt up and bushing points. Maybe look more closely at track rod, since that ties right in to eccentric adjusting point. See parts pic.:

I'm debating on taking it to the dealer this time for an alignment check. I had an indy do it before, but the shop was recommended by the best Audi shop in town.. But now I'm hesitant to go back there.....
