Default Parking Brake Error - Hall Effect Sensor

I had the parking brake light come on last week. It is strange because the parking brake still works perfectly. I have ran VAG Com and it shows that there is a hall effect sensor issue on the right side. I ran through all the tests in VAG open / close / test. Reset the pad thickness. Everything seems to be working properly but I cannot clear the light. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Verify all wiring is good (standard automotive electrical troubleshooting techniques-use the wiring diagram that is in the service manual). If so, consider replacing the defective Hall-Effect Sensor. This may mean the complete motor or calpier assembly.

OP, did you not like the same answer the first time you asked?

I have a working motor on my shelf in the garage here if interested. Let me know.

I received minimal feedback as I posted within someone else's post that was somewhat unrelated so I thought I would get more input and valuable experience if it was in its own post.... but thanks for the sarcasm. Always helpful.

No problem and you're welcome. Next time I'll hold off and wait for a couple of pages of "maybe this, maybe that" type posts before posting an actual solution....just the way you like it.

Default I'm one of the unlucky ones as well

I have followed the tips given on this board (and common sense) - used top notch contact cleaner / lubricant, bent connector pins a tiny bit to ensure tighter fit etc. Done the Ross-Tech process. Has worked fine for 4 months, was off and on before that (a few weeks at a time), usually corrected with wet weather. In the end - the good news is that I know it's the connector / motor - not the car wiring harness (which can fail for some).

Over time I will have to replace the caliper, but it's not cheap. And since prior owner painted it black, I have to do the same with replacement.

It's unclear to me if there is any correlation to age or mileage for this to fail. if not, a used caliper may actually be a smart move, as long as you can do the work yourself.

You can buy the motor by itself (part no: 4E0998281B) or you certainly used to be able to. It's attached with a couple of torx bolts and is a very quick swap.

Even if it's no longer available without the caliper, I'd still just swap the motor over as a caliper change makes the job much more involved.

That's excellent news - not sure how I missed that? $400 sure is a better price than the entire caliper.
Thank you!
