Default Radio Code

I will be changing my battery in the next couple of days. Is there a way to retrieve the radio code just in case I get locked out of the MMI? Trying to decide whether to try to keep power connected while swapping batteries or just disconnect and let everything "reset".

Component protection is automatic. Things like the radio "see" the other ECU's and if vin's match, everything will continue to work even with a battery removed for an extended period. Swap say the instrument cluster with one from another vehicle and watch all hell break loose.

Thanks for the reply! Just want to make sure I don't do anything that will require a visit to the dealer.

If it's the radio you are on about
No code no component protection.
Except if you have a sds module in the radio.
Most any other codes only Audi and God know them
Except for a few that you can get PIN numbers off via abrites commander.

I have disconnected my battery (2006 A8L 4.2) several times. No codes were needed upon reconnecting. Had to drive it a little to get one of the warning lights (ESP?) to turn off but that was it. I have the AM/FM radio, AMI, Satellite (Sirius/XM) and CD changer.
