Default Radio error code

I have a new code poppimh up. It will not clear. It was on my previous scan also.
The radio does not have very strong reception, never did. It loses stations quickly on leaving town. The code is new.
Did look at the connection to the amplifier when in the truck a month ago. This code did not come up after that.
Is this the antenna cable?

It sounds like the antenna amplifier.
Note that is a 2005, so double check part numbers for your year - preferably by VIN.

Per the wiki check the wiring first, and the MVBs will give you more insight.

I was feeling pain if the issue was the antenna cable. This FM amplifier is expensive.
I need to drop the lid to get back into the stereo in the rear deck. I fiddled with the fm amplifier connections. It works, but range is about half of normal.
I had a misfire and ran about 10 scans in a week. No radio issues. Even with the codes, FM works the same. Fine around town, loses stations 30 miles out.
How good is reception normally?

Antenna Amplifier is behind the roof trim just to the left from the shark fin antenna. If cleaning connections doesn't help you may want to try eBay first.

That depends on the station and terrain, but that range sounds OK. Those stations are meant to be local.

Now I know where to look. I saw a module in the trunk also. It was labeled antenna amplifier. The cables were plugged in.
The rear deck is full. There is an electronic crossover, three amplifiers, two passive crossovers, plus a some Audi units mounted. The wiring is dressed well and neat. But there is a lot of it. And no diagrams.

That sounds aftermarket. Could be that antenna amplifier too. Added or moved.

If memory serves, that's an IF amp and handles more than just FM.
GPS and telephone base plate are routed through it as well I think.
