Default Rear back window sun shade

I hear a click when I push the button but nothing happens. Has anybody experience this. Sorry 05 A8l. This car had sat for a while. Could it be stuck? How do you fix a stuck shade?

I would have someone sit in front and push the button with you in the back with a trim stick to try and slip under the sunshade cover to see if with a little assistance it will come out. other than that I would check fuses and then start pulling apart interior or trunk panels in order to access the sunshade.

PS- I am an engineer for sunroofs/sunshades OEM and these are fairly simple mechanical devices. Generally speaking if they go bad you replace the entire unit.

Fairly low priced too. Except for Audi service parts.

Keep in mind service part prices to an end user are usually 5x what a component manufacturer sells them to an OEM for production use. That's whay most of the posters here try and repair these things when broken.

Are you by chance with Inteva?

No, I'm actually with GM. Webasto is a big supplier for us and Audi as well.

yeah it would be nice to know a fellow co-worker where I am that drives an Audi. I am frowned upon for not having GM products. what makes it worse is that I have BMW also.

No need to sit in the front you can operate the rear shade from the rear via the button in the light cluster

Perhaps the folding flap is stuck and won't flip open?

Hey Billyb2,

Check out my Roller Shade Fix link. My D2 shade had a similar issue. I'm guessing the difference between the D2 and D3 roller shade is minimal. Mine was an easy, no cost fix.

Good luck.

Hey 2001 S8, good info. I'm gonna have to try and fix my rear shade. The arms lift up properly but the shade itself isn't attached to the arms. I hope it's easy. Dealer wanted ~ $1200.00 to fix it couple years ago.. Err.. No thanks!
