Default Rear door sunshade won't retract

Hi All,

Hoping someone knows how to correct this issue.
The rear door window shades were sticking, and not going up all the way, instead reversing back down. Well, with a bit of wiggling and helping, I got them to work, only one problem. When one was up I pulled up a bit too much (maybe 1 inch), and now the reel won't pull the netting back in. Like a seat belt that is pulled to its' limit and won't retract. Anyone have a technique to make the spring reel in the shade again and keep the tension when the mechanism retracts? I hope that is not too confusing. I'll take a pic. Just to be clear, the power unit goes up and down fine, just the fabric won't retract.
2008 S8

Thanks,

Tyler

I had a problem with the manual L\S window sunshade in mine. I couldn't get the fabric to retract after I yanked it up either. It was stuck at the half way up point prior. I picked a new one up from eBay for $32 bucks, popped the door panel off and replaced it and all is well. Good luck.

Default Interior pic

Here's one. I love the stitching and the carbon fibre accents.

Thanks Mike. Maybe I'll try taking off the panel and fiddling with mine.

More pics! First amaretto/black s8 I've seen. Is the stitching different color as well?

F117 aviator by chance?

I didn't realize this was a rare color scheme. I sure like it though. Now if only the original owner had opted for ventilated seats....
