After the new shocks - remove the heavy stuff in the tool box
and it still doesn't lift - add some springs - It's been working for me a few years now.

the soft close motor should work - I noticed when I was playing with the trunk lift motor, if the system is out of sync - (latch + motor + bracket (out of alignment)), the soft close stops working, it's not the motor.
Use a screw driver and close the latch on the lid to see if it's working.

PS: before replacing anything, the best is to troubleshoot the whole system to make sure we don't replace the good part. I've encountered most of the problems we have posted up here and I haven't had to replace anything yet.

A big heads up. Make sure to either attach a battery tender to the terminals or get a cigarette lighter version as ive been told the tcm can reset on these cars. Also, I was about to buy a replacement motor. Ebay has tested units for $30 where the replacement was $500 from the stealership.
