Default Replacing Suspension Control Module

I have a 2007 S8 with the suspension amber warning light on. Checked wiring, relays, and fuses. Mechanic wants to try replacing the Suspension Control Module.

Has anybody done this? Does it require any reprogramming? I purchased a used one from Ebay.

2003-2007 AUDI A8 SUSPENSION CONTROL MODULE COMPUTER 4E0907553F OEM S8

Thanks!

Did you scan for faulty codes? Randomly replacing parts can get very expensive.

Yep.

I've never heard of a suspension control module going bad and I've seen a LOT of AutoScans.
More importantly I had a heck of a time finding that P/N, but don't have access to PartsLink24 at the moment.

It needs to be matched by VIN to the vehicle as their are different firmware versions.

But it's not that module anyway - 99% certainty, but a complete scan will tell all.

Diagnstic software will tell you the likely issue. If the WABCO electric air compressor is original, it is the likely culprit. However, a diagnostic scan is mandatory for troubleshooting.

My mechanic has been doing scans and recommended the replacement. I should ask for a copy of the codes next time and post it here. When I called the dealer for the part# they gave me was 4E0910553L the one I bought used on ebay is 4E0910553H

I assume the last letter is the FW versions. So should I even try the install or just return it? A new one from the dealer is $1000. At that price I might just convert the whole suspension system to coilovers. Anyone actually done a conversion before?

OT, but do you have shares in WABCO? You must mention it at least twice a week....

Newer one will be fine. So as you already have it and you want to be nice to your mechanic, let him replace it. It is not a big deal. Just drop the glove box and it is behind it. If that solves your problem let us know. That's how we learn. If it doesn't return it and post that scan here. That would be the way for your mechanic to learn. Unbelievable cheep way.

Similar issue with my 2008 Audi A8L. Audi ran diags for me and found the ride suspension control module was showing different errors when the compressor and the switches were reading fine. The car would tilt and Audi said it was the control module not being able to identify how it was riding to make the changes. I've got a used one on order, to try it in my 2004 A8L, then will try to get my 2008 module rebuilt in by ModuleMaster.com as the current plan.

I don't remember the error code but my '05 had a code for the suspension control module when i bought it. Changed it out with a used one from ebay and it fixed it. The key is making sure the error is the module. It's not a common failure item.

I rode in a car that had a conversion done. If you like the way a 1886 4000 with sport suspension rides, then you will love the coil spring conversion.
