Default It depends...

You would want a Bentley manual for the step by step if you haven't done it a lot, would need to be comfortable pulling an airbag unit (not a huge mystery beyond disconnect battery at an exact point in the process and no stupid moves or drops), need some Torx drivers to fit a couple of screws, need to be comfortable removing interior trim (below and around the steering column), need to understand/work w/ importance of keeping track of wheel position/center; and need to be comfortable w/ opening Audi locking connectors w/ out breaking (variously fingernails, small jeweler screwdrivers, etc.)

Depending on whether what I just said sounds pretty comfortable or out of your zone, you have your answer. I would call it about "intermediate" for modern Audi DIY. Also, if the airbag light is on, you will need VAG COM to clear it, and you need to be careful step wise with disconnecting battery not to trigger the warning light accidentally. The steering angle related light will likely come on after you fool with it, but that should self clear shortly after you start to drive down the road and turn wheel a bit if things are right.

I had a squeal/squeak in my steering wheel and Audi diagnosed it as a bad steering rack. I was surprised since it sounded like the problem others have described here. I just picked up the car this morning and, so far, no squeak when turning the wheel. I'll be listening closely for any further sounds as I run errands today.
