Default S8 OWNERS, TRANSMISSION SERVICE ?

Hellow, how many of the S8 in this fórum had done the ZF Tiptronic service ?. At what milleage ?. Lifeguard 6 or 8 ?

When i bought my S8 2008 the first thing i want to do was the Tiptronic service ( drain and refill + new filter ). But it is very complicated to put down the pan, the 2 lines of the exhaust are there, and a few mechanical parts that make a big job ( a lot of hours of work ) to get out the pan.

My ZF dealer said to me to only drain and refill without touching the pan when the car has over 90.000 Milles or 83.000 Milles. Actually my S8 is over 73.000 Milles.

The tiptronic it goes perfect, very smooth in cold and warm.

Thanks all for your responses.

Regards

EISENMANN

Mine S8 have 90k on it and I will pay Audi to change filter and fluid. It will run about $500 and 3h of labor. I guess Audi have some special way to remove the pan without removing exhaust. Lifeguard grade depends from your vin number so I would contact Europa parts they gave me right fluid with a gasket (vin sensitive as well).

Good luck.

I have 99k on mine (2006) and changed the oil and filter. No issues. The old oil looked good. I used whatever oil the dealer said I needed. Cost for gasket, filter and oil was about $400.

Gasket sells for about $100, the filter is about the same. The oil is $26 per quart. I got 8 quarts.

Did you have the opportunity to inspect the old filter? What type of filter is it, and was it noticeably dirty?

So do you expect some higher authority here to tell you something smarter?

Hello mishar, the problem is that i don't want to have any problem if he put out the pan. We put the car in one elevator and apart of the 2 lines of the exhaust, there is the transmission cooler, one little rubber cooler line and the crossbar it has to get removed to put out the pan. A few lot of hours of job.

And here, Audi dealer do not make Tiptronic Service.

The problem is not about authority!!!!.

Regards!!!

I changed my fluid/filter at about 50K miles. The fluid was perfect and it was a PITA to perform, had to take the exhaust apart. I used Schaeffer All-Trans Supreme:

Schaeffer Oil | ALL-Trans Supreme® Transmission Fluid for Dexron III and Mercon fluids

OMG, the car still works 15K miles later! I think the fluid was about $140 for a case of 12. Bought it on ebay.

Than follow the ZF guy's advice and do not put it out. Just drain and pour 5 liters of a fresh ATF. Than follow the ATF level procedure.

Damn you and your real world experience!

Putin/ZF's internet trolls will be along in a minute to set this straight.

What made you decide to use that particular brand?
