Default S8 Project Update, only a few faults now, air compressor still will not turn on FIXED

I finally got all the suspension, air strut and CV axle replaced on the right front of my 2007 S8. As some of you might already know I bought this from the insurance auction after the car had hit a curb. I also had to replace the battery. That being said, after multiple starts (running the car in park, not driving) the air compressor still will not turn on. I "jumped" it with a battery charger when I first got the car and it turned on. No faults in the level control.

VAG scan

No faultcode found.

I am down to only a few lights on the dash. The ESP is on, this should turn off after the car in driven. The yellow suspension light is on. The car basically sitting on the ground, I have it on low ramps in the front so I will be able to jack it up if needed.

I initially replaced the 373 relay under the dash after removing the trim and the lower panel, that did not work because I found out that that is not the location of the compressor relay and fuse.

I pulled the carpet and insulation up on the passenger side that revealed a 373 relay and swapped it with another one with no results, however the fuse above the wiring block is a 30 amp. Is this the air compressor fuse? I thought it was a 40 amp?

It also is "stuck" in jack and or tow mode, I turned this on so see if would turn on the compressor. Now I can only switch the tow mode off. I tried to level it with the VAG software with no success.

Do the following faults have any bearing on this?

They car runs fine, everything works except the air ride.

Do drive the car down the street to see it kicks on?

Absolutely NOT.

Time to trace out the problem. I would pull the relay and see what sort of voltages you have. Better yet, I would pop the cover on the relay and then measure the voltages on all of the pins. If all but one of the pins is dead, then I would look at the controller.

Remember to pop the cover back on before trying to remove the naked relay.

I ended up slowly backing it off the ramps (the front bumper cover is off) and drove it down the street at about 20 MPH, the ESP and the yellow suspension lights went off. I pulled it back in the driveway and let it idle and went in to the suspension menu in the MMI. The lift mode was now active. I hit the button and it raised up. I switched to dynamic and it started to lower. Jake used to own this car, and I assume it has lowering links because it is way to low in all the other modes. Or I need to learn to recalibrate the ride height.

Evidently having the jack barely supporting the car must have had the car to high for the level control to active the compressor.

Just glad the car managed to fix itself over multiple startups and a quick spin around the block.

Now I need to get some wheels, grill and build an exhaust.

looks lowered if that is the Lift Mode. Suspect lower links or someone altered the ride height with Ross Tech. Keep an eye on the height overnight as a leaking air strut could easily be an issue.

Previous owner liked it low. Gonna have to figure out how to raise with VAG software.

There are a number of threads on the subject, Mike. Mishar had a good write up, albeit for lowering. Lowering is the same as raising the height, it's just a matter of whether you go up or down from the current values.
