Default S8 TRANSMISSION SERVICE ( ATF + FILTER ) DONE IT!!!!

Hello all, today i pick my S8 with the Transmission Service concluyed. Audi dealer done it. My impressions are awesome, the tiptronic before the tranny service Works very good, very smooths, but now the transmission is another. Shifts changes are extremely smoothers, more fast changing gears.

I'm very happy with the result!!!!!!!. 79.972 Milles ( 128.704 Kms )

I hightly recomend all A8/S8 D3 owners to do it. We enjoy a lot more of the car!!!!!!.

Thank's to all the people who help me. Specially to MP4.2+6.0 and mishar.

G055 005 A2 ( Audi OEM ATF )

09E 325 429 ( Filter )

Kind Regards!!!!

Great news! Just did the same and experienced a similar positive outcome. See here: https://www.audiworld.com/forums/a8-...ected-2883008/

How much did it cost you? I decided not go with the Courvoisier priced VW or ZF branded fluid and used Redline D6 ATF instead.

Hello dvs dave, it is expensive. Near 900 €, i'm from Spain!!!!!!. Audi dealer here in Spain is expensive de hours of the mechanics. I think they are all compatible with the 6hp26 if they have the Shell specification.

900 Euro...yikes! Cost me less than USD300 using Redline D6 which meets the same Shell M-1375.4 specifications.

Default Maybe other issues at work in EU--rather than D6 vs LG6 price arbitrage

May be other issues at work here, not some bargain Redline thing. When I was last in Germany and nearby countries in summer 2013, we did the Q5 Euro delivery and drive vacation. I was in your typical modern minimart gas stop many a time and saw their motor oil and related fluid point of sale stand/rack out front. Easy to buy 5W-40 502/505 compliant oils (or MB or BMW or similar gas or diesel specs) there from literally the roadside fill up, unlike here. BUT when you priced into U.S. equivalent, it was like $25-30 per LITER/quasi quart!! Not just roadside robbery beyond the mark ups we might see here in a roadside station scenario. I noticed it several times in various places besides just petrol stations. Whether it is taxes or monopolies or fair trade laws (aka price fixing) or whatever, prices on automotive oil type fluids were way, way higher than U.S. norms every time I happened on it. Perhaps another reason you find the extended drain and variable oil sensor stuff fitted to our same cars in Europe.

Two simple searches on eBay.es (Espana), one for Redline D6, one for ZF 6. Probably will find about the same thing on ebay.de (Deutschland). I think you'll pretty quickly conclude the arbitrage play to get down the high price curve would be to buy it outside the EU, not particularly the D6 vs. LG6 play locally. But, if a workshop does it with regular paperwork, probably not practical even if you can find a non-EU vendor who will ship it in, customs inspection scenarios, weights of a lot of auto stuff for shipping, etc. Might be different for the Mercon cross over, but I bet the higher price of fluid products rears up there too.

eBay.es: Redline D6 en venta. Compra Redline D6 al mejor precio

eBay.es: ZF lifeguard 6 en venta. Compra ZF lifeguard 6 al mejor precio

You forget, I'm a Brit so know full well the prices of fluids in Europe, and gas stations are always priced sky high for quarts of oil. Redline is not a common brand over there, but there are a lot more readily available equivalent Euro brands. Liquid Moly, Elf, Ardeca, Ravenol....the list goes on. Yes oil products are generally pricier than in the U.S, but the VW/ZF stuff is equally overinflated.

Got it. It's also an S8, so since he did filter that means pan drop...which on an S8 or W12 means front pipe drop. Pretty much have to drop both sides (not just one) to get pan out and then back in (BTDT), plus some water lines and maybe one of the coolers. A couple more shop hours in there minimum.

Thanks so much for posting your results - I'll be sure to have it done when I buy my car.

Anyone know of a reputable ZF transmission place around West London?

I am looking to get this done on my S8 here, stateside. Can anyone confirm whether this model uses ZF / Lifeguard 6, or ZF / Lifeguard 8? It seems the W12 is the latter, and The V8s, the former, but not so clear on the V10. Thank you!

LG 6 is what the ZF tables say. The W12 was (uniquely) LG 6+, which is still available from Audi. ZF merged 6+ into LG 8 for its purposes.
