Service Drone
Ballykid and I were at Fletcher Jones Audi/VW in downtown Chicago the other day looking at a Christmas present MsBally could maybe buy for me..... Lol!
We were given a walk through as this is a three story dealership and were shown this funny looking drone in the Service Manager's office that is used when linking up to the Audi tech center/factory as weird problems are being investigated. I like the mock grill and wheels at the base. Cameras, display screen, speakers and some way to peer at specific things including a remote camera that looks at the instrument panel or other place on the vehicle.
I love that term "factory" as if the assembly plant employees are going to help troubleshoot problems. In this day & age, no automobile factory has the design engineers in the same building or city or even state where the engineers reside.
I have never seen nor heard of this contraption. If this has already been posted by someone earlier, I apologize for the duplicate thread.

LOL, I thought you were going to have a story about poor service !
That's how the techs and SAs work with the TAC [Technical Assistance Centre] at the mothership when things fall outside of GFF.

I've heard of this
A way the higher up service guys can work remote; kind of the internet successor to the old field service troubleshooter who used to drive around to dealerships for the hard cases or the ones that needed higher level warranty approvals.
From the Ingolstadt tour, I think the engineers really are there. They run several lines--plus the other principal lines in Nerkarsulm and all the motors now built in Gyor)--but there were a lot of buildings that seemed to be development oriented and not just admin support stuff. Sprawling complex in a not terribly big town, kind of like a Midwestern Schaumburg Motorola before they went down the tubes.

I've been too darn busy closing this very good sales year to even get to the dealership
Derf had me sold on a 2015 A8L, and Audi had the perfect one, but now he thinks I should get an S8
ps - also been busy tooling up and learning a new business sideline for when I retire
