Shorted Switch Lights
#11
JJJ,
now, i am interested in a procedure on how to remove the center console and the reason is because the little spring for the door to get in the compartment for coffee cups broke
and i read that i will need to open the whole thing up in order to replace that spring for the door.
the door still goes up and down but i have to manually apply pressure in order to open, so it doesn't spring back anymore because of the broken spring.
thank you in advance!

My dash lights were dead on both A8's that I have, and 04 A8L and an 06 W12. I simply disconnected the connector that feeds the armrest lighting, and my dash lighting had been restored. I just did not find the armrest lights that useful to be bothered wit the wiring repair.

See pictures.
See pictures, remove rear air vents, remove console trim, and you will find the lead from armrest to plug IIRC.

Edited: Possibly have to take out the center console wood surround too, can't remember exactly, still a fast and easy solution
