Side Maker Light Stuck On - 2006 A8
Hi all,
I've looked through the forum and haven't come up with anything. My left side amber side marker light is stuck on. I've locked/unlocked multiple times, blinker on and off multiple times and it will not turn off. When the turn signal is on, I hear a relay coming on and off but I read that there isn't one in this car.
Any thoughts on how I would go about getting this resolved?
Thanks,
Steve

I suspect a short. Follow the wiring and look for signs of trouble(cracking, tears, and pinching.) I'm not sure what controls those lights, but if the wires are good, the source they lead to is the likely suspect. If you can't trace it that far, I suppose you could unplug the light for now until you can get to it. I haven't seen this on here before, but I'm sure the more technically proficient on here may be able to be more specific or provide other suggestions.
Whenever I see anything electrical pop up on here, water intrusion is always something that wanders through my head as a possibility. It couldn't hurt to make sure your floorboards are all dry and your drains are doing their job. You haven't heard any mysterious running water sounds lately, have you?

Relevant if maybe it is the left/right side parking light function (standard Euro type stuff though not sure which lights it affects), or maybe if lighting control has been modded in any way consonant with that w/ VCDS. Otherwise could be bad control relay/module. VCDS scan might help there or otherwise.

That's not a bad idea - wonder if they can be coded to stay on?
Could be a "short" to ground... some lights are provided constant + normally, and the switched connection is the - . Brown wires aree ground normally; I bet a switched ground is brown with a stripe.
Does it stay on all the time? Flash with turn signals?

I should have asked is it on while the car is off? (Guessing not). Even if it is, those three LEDs would take 4 years to drain the battery - if not for the power control system shutting the light down (assuming it could, given the situation). Have you removed it yet, or can the wires be accessed from the fenderwell? (I forgot)

I haven't tried removing the light. It stays on full time - even when the car is off and locked. I was trying to get advice here before I did anything. I've just pulled the fuse for now. I don't know much about the control module that controls the lights (where it is, how expensive, etc.) I finally got around to ordering a VCDS, so will see what it can tell me when it gets here.
