Yes, they are interchangeable. Like with the other thread going with same question, the W12 grill has chrome on gloss black vs the S8 has chrome on flat gray. Depending on the color of your car, the W12 grill looks better on most colors.

I understand what your saying about your choice in design preference but I just like the way it looks in the car and I'm not trying to fool anyone. I just think the s8 grill looks better to me with the car black on black.

I wasnt implying you were trying fool anyone with your updated grill choice. I definitely agree that the updated 09 grills look much better. I don't think the grills come with badges so I assume most people put the appropriate badge back on. What I was saying is that the W12 and S8 grills look exactly the same except for the color of the plastic mesh. I think the black mesh on the W12 grill looks better on a black car that the flat gray mesh.

FWIW, at least on my 2006 W12 the badges mount on a plastic tang on the back of the grill. Where it says quattro on a 4.2, W12 on a W12, etc. I actually found there were two mounting tangs so moved the W12 and added a quattro to it. Once in a while I get the "AWD" question in a CA Sierras chain check; less so since I did it. Probably same principles and interchangeability to match the actual car apply to the other motors.
