soft close door trouble shooting...
when the soft close feature does not function can the failure be diagnosed with VAG COM ? If not, is there just one component that can fail and therefore solution is always the same ?
I saw a post once where the guy sprayed some penetrant on something and that solved the problem, but he never explained what or where he sprayed...anyone hear of such a cure ?

Two possibles
As I understand them, it can be either the pull close motor unit, or the relevant sensor. The sensor is apparently the more common and less expensive +easier.
Mine lost two over time, both under original or CPO warranty, and all currently work. I remember at least the second one was just the sensor per the Audi service advisor follow up to me. See if someone responds, or search to find how to distinguish between the two failure scenarios.

I *think* it will tell you if there is a problem with the sensor, but can't find an exemplary Auto-Scan.

I sprayed it into the closing/latch mechanism of the door. Did it two or three times over a few days, and it has worked perfectly since. Used Kroil, either silicone or penephite.
