Does anyone have a list of part numbers that are compatible with D3 A8?

Did the AMI unit come standard on certain years?

I'm having a difficult time finding complete information on AMI units.

Any help would be much appreciated!

AMI first became available as an option as part of the D3 2007 mid-year refresh, and later became standard in 2008 and later model years cars.

The AMI was often sold as two different parts - the AMI unit itself and a retrofit kit containing a Y power wiring harness as well as extra fiber and connectors to add the AMI to the MOST ring - which allowed you to "add" the AMI without losing the CD player. Your other option is to install the AMI in place of the CD player, in which case you don't need the retrofit kit. Just remember to update your MMI to the latest level (46.10 in the US/Canada) before removing the CD player.

Default Try Google?

Second hit on the list: 4E0057785F. Audi. To be used for: connection for external audio sources. Probably means an "F" was just a superseding part in this case. I got mine early on, and it had no suffix. "4E0" is the usual start of a D3 part number. D3 = 4E in some Audi number speak, current being a 4F.

just trying to make certain before I buy for a customer's car. I did the install on my car a long time ago and it was not an 'F'.

The unit in question is a MOST system unit, and I think that is what counts...same unit forA6s or A8s...as opposed to the CAN system AMI units of the next gen 3G Audis which will not work in our A8s.
