Suspension stuck in Dynamic Mode, HELP!
Hi, my 2004 A8L with 148,000 miles is having an issue. The suspension is stuck in dynamic mode and the green low clearance suspension light is on with the arrow pointing down. The other suspension setting are greyed out. Please assist, I have read many, many threads on here and none speak of the exact issue I am having. My friend and I checked the fuses on the passenger side of car. All 4 shocks are level on lowest (sport dynamic) height. Car drives and rides fine. I have two good leads about what it maybe but want opinions please!

It can be few things but VCDS scan would narrow it down. Compressor fuse (40 A) and the relay are behind the dashboard, just above drivers left foot. You have to take off that trim in order to get to them. Be careful there is an airbag. Besides that it can be compressor itself, one of level sensors, may be Valve Block or even Leveling Module. That's why I would start with scan. Otherwise it can be very expensive randomly replacing parts.

You Definitely need to scan it. If the compressor overtemp fault occurs, it will not illuminate the yellow suspension light. ...You would think it should, but it doesn't.
You may be able to reset the fault and get it to run for a little bit, but chances are your compressor is going, or gone. The other settings are grayed out because the compressor will not run, so it can't lift to those heights.

Mishar, thank you. TJF, that really stumped me as to why the yellow suspension light was not coming on. I am concerned the front driver's side air spring (damper) may have caused that compressor to run too much because of a leak though I never saw the front left side down but maybe twice when it was below zero outside. Earlier this year, I slide into a curb and all components on the right front undercarriage had to be replaced including the air spring. I can't help but wonder if this made the left side go bad. The past month or so I noticed the driver's front side lifting up every time I was stopped but didnt think much of it because I never heard the compressor kick on when I was detailing my car (every weekend). From what I read on other threads, the compressor overtemp fault can occur due to a malfunction in the thermostat of the compressor? Very frustrating if a fail safe causes a problem. Anyway, a guy named Joe that lives near Atlanta contacted me and said he would scan my car this evening. I will post the codes later.

I'm going by experience. My compressor failed when going from normal height to Lift. I had the compressor overtemp fault. I never got the yellow suspension warning light. The "Lift" selection just grayed out. I was able to reset the fault...eventually. It took about 30 resets where it would trip after about 1 second. Then it ran fine, for a little while. Enough to get me home anyway. It faulted on overtemp again. I put a resistor across the temp sensor and it ran, for a little while. Then the compressor self destructed. That was over a year ago. I still have not found a significant shock leak. My car can sit for a month and not drop more than an inch in any corner.
