Default Sway bar question

I'm preparing parts to do my front suspension. From previous threads, I know that the original sway bay bushings are part of the sway bar, but could they be cut off and replaced with the new style, or is it pretty much you have to replace the whole thing for about $300?

I don't think there is such replacement on the market, but one can certainly experiment. Most of cars have those bushings as a separate part. There is a small problem with preventing the sway bar from moving left/right since it doesn't have any support that way.

So the new(er) style swaybar has ribs of some sort and grooves in the bushing that prevent lateral movement where the original style used glue? Putting grooved bushings on a flat bar would require some sort of (reliable) retaining feature. ....Looks like that means new swaybar.

I am not sure about which one you talk but "stabilizer bushings" can be replaced. A lot of ppl cut them off and use in their place S8 D2 bushings. Its only 10-20$ costs...

I think in your engines (most PB) can be used from A8 D2 coz this from S8 for are for thicker sway bar(like in TDI). PB have thinner sway bars.

Sorry for english in dificult words
