Buy the one you just posted as long as everything is good. It has adaptive cruise and rear hvac controls. Also has the power adjustable rear lumbar. The are I just bought is optioned the same way. MAKE SURE TO TEST THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE! It is spendy to replace parts and also spendy to have calibrated. I absolutely love it though.

I would ask them to send you a picture of the MMI set on suspension with the car running to verify no suspension issues. But it is a good sign that the picture of the gauge cluster was taken with the car running and it shows no faults.

You want the black one anyway!

It has ACC which is pretty rare in 06, we'll still rare actually.

Default Tinted windows is the big MINUS IMO.

It doesn't matter how well they do it, it will bubble in the back and it's a pain to get it off with all the defrost wires. Nice car otherwise.

Cheers,

Louis

Tint can be corrected by a professional shop. Yes the A8 is a royal pain to tint but if done correctly it will last the life of the car. No warning light on the dash is a good sign for the suspension as well here.

I agree that if it's done professionally and use high quality tint, it's lifetime for most us.

I was really wanting another car on Monday but the dealer told me it was sold. I then called about this grey car and they said that people were trying to buy it and that they had submitted a credit application. Now being there were only two cars that fit my criteria for sale on the east coast I rushed into putting the deposit and stuff.

I have now found that the original car that I wanted is not sold after all and I have a feeling that I will be backing out of the deal on the grey car for this one: 2006 AUDI A8 L 4.2L

Carfax is clean. I asked for help from JohnnyJ to run the Autocheck for me and it came back clean as well. Overall this black car seems like a much better option. We don't get a picture of the Air suspension settings screen so I can't tell if it has the unselectable problem like the grey car does.

I am so very very glad I joined the forums and posted about that car because I would have it home and be knee deep in problems I could avoid.
The old "someone else is trying to buy it, hurry before they do"

I went to their website, checked out there inventory, and taking what you said about them. All together, I'd run away from that dealer and run fast. Sometimes they end up with decent cars, but places like that will lie to you every step of the way for an extra buck. I can't buy a car if I don't trust where it's coming from. Too many unknowns.

Also, if that car hasn't had it's timing belt changed, it will need it immediately, else you risk destroying the engine. It's around $1800, and if you can't figure out whether or not it's been done, it hasn't been.

Default I think he's already gone to get either car... Since the first one

didn't pan out, it's not a good sign for buying the car this week. I'm sure he will get a compromised one.
$15k for 120k miles car, history unknown. Timing belt like mentioned is unknown. These cars really keep their values and someone offered $10k for my car only.

Cheers,

Louis

Their value at this point is almost entirely based on mileage and condition, the timing belt cars have more or less stopped depreciating due to age. That said, 15k for that car, it better be in excellent shape with all maintenance up to date.
