TPMS effected by Rain?

TPMS effected by Rain?
I have 2008 A8L and twice within the last 2 months the TPMS light came on and none of tires pressures were available in the MMI. Both times it has been raining and the system has not had any issues when it was not raining.
The first time I assumed the batteries were dying because I know that they have about a 6 year lifespan.
Then today it did it again. Driving down the road the TPMS light came on no pressures. When I got to my destination did my thing came out about 1 hour later rain had stopped for the most part turned on the car and TPMS warning is gone and pressures are back. Drove 1.5 hours home no rain pressures still there.
Is this just a symptom of the batteries dying or is it more than that. Could it be related to the receiver or wiring which seems unlikely considering both are located under the back seat IIRC. Is this just a conquincidence? Don't have a Vag com so I cannot check it out that way.
Thanks in advance.

Most probably your batteries are dying and just a bit diminished signal is not enough to transmit data. If only one sensor is dead (except spare) system shuts off.

Not directly...
When mine died at their 6 year point, first they gave the malfunction alert in cold. Once on a cold winter night Aspen, with snow packed into wheel well area w/ a storm. Next time was a subsequent trip in winter/cold Tahoe, but this time dry conditions as I recall. I can see how the cold can be just enough to have the señor not have quite enough juice to transmit adequately in its dying days. I actually had to wait until the second time w/ the cold to get them replaced, since Audi CPO covers them, but only if the light is on. I had innocently reset the system the first time, and took until another very cold exposure to repeat it a month or two later.

About two years ago I bought a set from OEwheels around that same price range. May even be the same ones. They installed no problem and have been working perfectly. Only thing that was cheap was the valve stems. Discount tire used on hand OEM audi ones at no extra charge when installing them.

No discount tire near me so if I go that route I might have to get valve stems as well. Anyone run the monitors from OEwheels with the supplied value stems?

Good to know. Did you bother changing the one in the spare?
Which ones did you get?
Titans $136 TPMS fits Audi A8 Tire Pressure Sensors
Oro-Tek $184 TPMS fits Audi A8 Quattro L Tire Pressure Sensors
Eon $144 TPMS fits Audi A8 Tire Pressure Sensors

Yes, I replaced the spare too. Not crucial but looks better and reminds you to pump some air in there too. I don't remember which ones I bought. At that time they where pretty much only ones available. They all fit.
