Hy huys , im a newby here ,, need some advice , my audi a8 2004/5 3 0ltre tdi boot is not locking properly , audi advised to change the lock which i did made no difference , what happes is the motor brings the boot down but does not pull tight shut , the boot seems to lift back up out of position and is not locked correctly , shows up on the dash as open and my alarm security system then fails as the boot is reg opened ? do i need to change the motor which opens up but weakly closes on the button but then the problems start ?

The soft close mechanism has failed. Most likely a broken spring. See here on how to fix and let us know how you get on.

having seen the pics , all the lock was replaced brand new Dave it never solved the probs ??? anymore suggestions ?

I don't understand what you mean? Have you confirmed that when you manually latch the trunk latch, the strike pin mechanism is moving down or not? If not, have you been able to ascertain if the spring is still in place in that mechanism?

yes Dave the lock pin goes down , when i press the button to close , the boot lid comes down starts to lock then the lid raises about a quarter of an inch , on the right hand side , then goes down but still registers as open ? and the alarm system will not function , the diagnostic test at audi said change boot lock , i did , still got the same problem ? however it has once or twice rectified itself only then to go back to not working correctly

2) If you go to the dealer pick up an extra metal clip that is used on the trunk trim that you will be pulling off. They get lost very easily.

8) Disconnect connector to trunk release and remove 2 – 10mm nuts, note position of emergency release and lock cables.Remove lock cable first (cable coming from right bottom in picture). Unbolt unit and then slide emergency release cable out.

Hello, please let me know how can I open the Hook Audi4 2003 with out using the standard wire, (the wire of opening is disconnected)

Hi, the standard Hook opener wire is disconnected(Audi a4 /2003),how can open the trunk latch from out side.thanks for your help.
