updated MMI and lost bluetooth?!?!
Hi...
I've updated my MMI tonight going from 1170 to 3360 and after that to 4610...
at 3360 my phone was fine, and then I ran the other two cd's and I lost Bluetooth...
My phone can't find the car.
Any hint?

I've tried that, and hard reset on my phone, still nothing...
I've just done a little bit of research and I'm reading about toasted Bluetooth module after update...
F?%k... It was working perfectly...

Maybe try re-running the 4610 clean up disk again? Also, did you delete (all) stored phones and just try starting over on pairing?
Also, try another phone just in case. More than a few have sworn at the car only to find it is a flaked phone. Apple gave me a delightful refurb one last year when my camera broke due to case separation, only to find the next one had a defective bluetooth module that did allow connecting but no voice transmission. And the store "genius" (at the quasi flagship Palo Alto one) had no clue phone bluetooth and music bluetooth are two different things when he first tried to tell me it was fine since he could attach to a music device. That replacement died a few months ago due to an inability to read SIM. As in, three refurb'ed phones in less than a year, and three definitive defects once I got them on correct path. And once I tested the bluetooth issue on both my A8 and my wife's Q5 (and tested her phone in my car and found all was fine), I knew it was on phone side. Apple 5S.

I've ran the clean up cd one more time after this, and I got the message that the phone could not pair.
Remove my phone from the car setting, but it did not work.
I then went to bed really sorry that I did this...
Got in the car this morning; everything is fine!!!
Go figure...
looks like all my VAG cars could always "autorepair" themselves... ;-) cool...

The update cd for Bluetooth is two stage.
The first pass will wipe all software from the unit and make it undetectable or "Telephone Not Installed"
The second pass of the disc will update it with new software.
If you get the chance, go for 5570 software as it will allow the BT module to work with current iPhones. (mine was 4220 and wouldn't store any phonebook data in the car's directory)

What I noticed when I updated to 4610 was that the car had to sit for several minutes until the remote modules were updated. Seems that the updating of the remote modules takes some time and while the car is driveable during this time, it can take up to an additional 30-60 minutes for all of the modules to be updated. There was some weirdness when I upgraded mine but it fixed itself after waiting an hour. Reboot the MMI while the background process is updating modules and the updating process has to start from the beginning again.
