Default Bi-Xenon Help PLEASE!!!

Changed my drivers side (LH drive) headlight bulb and now I'm getting 02233, 02234 & 01539 codes. I replaced the passenger side a few months back with no issues. Everything checked fine before I swapped the bulb, what did I do wrong?

I can not do the basic setting through VCDS or any kind of adaptation. Still new to VCDS so maybe there is something I'm missing or not doing correctly?

Your headlights need to be adjusted per http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/01539

Procedure is here: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index...l_(Xenon_Plus)

02233 http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/02233
02234 http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/02234

I'd clear DTC's, run the adjustment procedure, and scan again to see if the other two come back.
You can select module 55 directly or use the clear all function in VCDS.

I had looked at those procedures on Ross-Tech and I am not getting the "Wait" or "adjust" on the basic setting procedure. I get an "invalid". Also noticed the coding is different now. VCDS won't allow the 6 for 4E, it's 1 for bi-xenon. I checked the fuse (#4 on the drivers side panel) and that is good.

Odd... I didn't catch that earlier
Very likely the reason for the other codes.
What was the previous coding, a 6 ?

That part number shows Pre-AFS so as you said I think it should be a 6 for coding.
What is the coding for module 17 ?

The Wiki shows
Coding

0000001 = Audi A3 (8P) Front-Wheel-Drive (FWD)
0000002 = Audi A3 (8P) All-Wheel-Drive (AWD)
0000003 = Audi A6 (4F) with Steel Suspension
0000004 = Audi A6 (4F) with Air Suspension
0000005 = Audi A4 (8E)
0000006 = Audi A8 (4E)

VCDS shows 0000001=Bi-Xenon

Only allows 0000000-0000004 in VCDS now.

Module 17-Instruments is 0016233

That looks correct.
I'm at a loss unfortunately.

Best to go to the source on this unless someone else has ideas....

Update: just looked through the full scan and found what could possibly be a core issue.

No wiki on Ross-Tech for the 01771 and the 01044 says to refer to the factory manual. Any guidance on correcting these 2?

Lights are turning on so ballast, igniter and all that jazz seem to work.

Any ideas on why the basic setting wouldn't work? I get ADJUST/INVALID/ADJUST/NOT AVAILABLE.

Default Sounds too complicated. Let's simplify.

It was working before the bulb change, correct? And, if I read your posts today, I think you may be saying the new bulb is activating but you are getting a bunch of new codes? If the codes are old, continue on with the recoding journey. But if they are new and the bulb is either working or not, I expect your issue is right there at the headlight/bulb area. It was only deep in the replies where I found a reference to the bulb apparently working. If it wasn't, I would quickly guess that tricky connector on the back of the igniter that only allows you to put the wire in AFTER you turn it into the lock ring. If you somehow put it in before you turned it tight (or you think you did...), that will be the likely issue. But otherwise and in any case, if working before but not now I would not be off recoding stuff, but rather biting the bullet and pulling it apart again to review the work, connections, etc.

There were NO related codes prior to replacing the bulb. The bulb was burned out hence the replacement. Both bulbs ARE working now (producing light) but are not adjusting as they should. They don't do the down/up test turning the car on initially. I was able to get rid of the module 19 codes but I'm still getting the module 55 codes.

The Ross-Tech wiki does show that the basic setting may not work with a power output stage fault (02234/02233).

I can't remember how I did the igniter at the end (it was being tricky and I tried both ways). Is it possible the igniter just isn't seated quite right? I just noticed the new bulb appears to be more yellow/dim than the other (same bulb part # as the other).
