2008 Audi A8L. My suspension started playing up, with two of the four level options greying out on the screen. After some trial and error, decided the pump was the issue, when I pulled the old one, the power cord (two wires) had overheated and partially melted at the point they enter the pump motor. With new pump installed I now discover there is no power at the relay socket (both pins) whether the ignition is on or off? The 40 amp fuse is fine. Can anyone help me troubleshoot how to determine the problem. I'm OK on mechanical issues, but electrical is a challenge for me.

Have you scanned codes? Overheated pump means you have a leak and the pump doesn't stop pumping. You need to find your leak. Also check your fuses.
