Nope -- Not it
I received the name plate from Jim Ellis - Part# 4E08536012ZZ and it is not the correct name plate. The name Plate on the trunk is larger than the name plate on the rear door molding that I am looking for. The one I received is smaller than the one on the rear door molding. The only other W12 Name plate Jim Ellis or I can see is part number 4E0853743T 2ZZ - which we believe is the largest W12 name plate that goes on the trunk. Starting to think maybe Audi just doesn't offer this anymore since it was only place on the rear door molding on the 2005 D3.

Okay, I took time to dig out some old stuff here and put a rule to it. Top one is probably yours. Check against the one you have for width as shown. Bottom ones are the trunk alternates--USA vs. Europe. You can see side by side how those are clearly yet bigger. Actually the one I don't have handy is the later W12 one on the front fender like my 2006 (or any later year). That version is smaller than any of these.
Part #'s for each one are right there in second picture, from Audi OE packaging.

The top one is the part that Ellis sent me. Thought - Only the "W" in the nameplate was damaged - Maybe I just remove the W and the 12on that door and replace the Entire nameplate with this part. For some reason I was so focused on getting the right size - I did not think of removing all of the nameplate as a possible solution.

So, at this point if top one is not it, I would speculate someone changed them in past on your car and put the smaller ones on from the later W12's--the one that goes on the front fenders. There really is no other explanation, and there are not four sizes.
Yes, you could delete. And of course you can use smaller ones (likely same as you have apparently) and put on front fenders instead. Personally I don't think they look great on the rub strips anyway, and Audi obviously decided the same along the way.

05A8W12,
Post a picture of both door emblems so we are all on the same page as to which size you have, here are pictures of my 05 A8 W12's door emblem.

Giovanni's measurement appears to match width of one I thought it was and posted w/ steel rule next to it. So if yours measure smaller, that will inform that they would logically be the later front fender ones that somehow got applied to your rub strips. Maybe also look and see if both sides are actually the same size if not already clear. When I had some minor front fender body work done, they replaced one of mine at first with the type Giovanni showed for rub strip and it stood out right away to me. They replaced of course, but likewise had trouble tracking down part #.

Here are some pictures of the grill W12 emblem although they are spaced closely together the height and width of each individual letter and number are the same as the side doors on my 05 A8 W12.

So I take Part 4E0-853-6301-2ZZ ad hold it up to the damaged name plate on the door and it is much smaller. Then you guys ask me to send pics with measurements. I go to measure the W12 on the other door and it is Exactly the same as Part# 4E0-853-601-2ZZ. I also happen to notice the "2" is a little off center. So on my driver side rear door (Pic 1) - it is Part 4E0-853-601-2ZZ and it looks like some or all of it was it was replaced at some point in time. The passenger side rear door (Pic 2) that has he damaged W Name plate matches the trunk Name Plate. So during previous ownership one or both of these have been replaced. Wow. So At this point I am going to remove the rest of the damaged W12 name plate and replace with this smaller name plate - and now the nameplates on the rear doors will actually match.
