Default W12 Rotors/Pads, Plugs/Coils, Coolant Tubes/Hose, G62 Temp Sensor, OH WHAT A DAY !!!!

Hello All,

I did it !!!!! 5 big grins, I am so happy and want to share this info for the G62 temp sensor on the W12.

And even though I am at a stand still as the dealer shorted me 1 spark plug, all boxes were there but 1 box was missing a plug,
I am replacing all 12 coils as they were only $17.25 each at Audi.

The sensor was a beast, my hand and arm are in pain, but it's in, and I did not lose one clip, I kept telling myself " I'm not gonna drop the clip over and over.....

Enjoy the pictures.

Default So, it nets to... (correct?)

That you were actually able to get to the infamous tenp sensor ("step 1: remove engine") by instead pulling the intake and then reaching deep down in there? I couldn't really make out where it was positioned (if in a picture), but I can see a pulled temp sensor of course in one of your other pics. Good for you!

You also mention "clips." Is that the sensor retention clip? Is there more than one?

Hello MP,

It's just 1 clip, but I only had 2 and it was a extremely tight fit, and trying to install the clip with just two fingers as there is not enough room to allow the clip to be placed between your finger and thumb, it was tough, also I used a long rod with a 1/16" x 1/4" flat end after I pierced a small hole though a grommet as seen in picture, I got it down to the clip with my right hand while my left guided it into the very tight slot, then with a pair of vise grips I rotated the rod which in turn worked the clip out, I thought this out for some time.

Great job. Now you have to keep her forever.

Just an idea about the clip and similar. To prevent loosing it tight it with a tread so you can fish it out if you drop it.

JohnnyQ,
Congrats... very productive day indeed. I'm glad I don't have 12 cylinders to mess with.

Cheers,

Louis
