Some here have been running AGM and report no issues. IIRC Mister Bally among them? D4's and many if not most all Audi's now are AGM. I doubt any real changes were made to the core of the charging system besides letting the power management system know how to deal with their marginal nuances.

Have a Deka Intimidator AGM for 2+ years now. No problems to date.
