Weird Noise On Startup

I am thinking it is the steering column unlocking, will get that looked at. On another note when driving out of my parking garage I can hear the brakes echo off of the walls rubbing like tsst....tsst....tsst....tsst should this sound go away after driving a bit or should it not be there at all?
see photo below for example. disregard the E-Motor thats for the new models with electronic steering assistance...

Do you have VCDS? If so you can go in to Address 08 (I think) HVAC...select "output tests" and then run through all of the vents sequentially. If it is one of them you will be able to diagnose exactly which one. I've been running that test like crazy while troubleshooting my non-working blower. That is a topic for another post but I am down to the control module or the fan being bad. Got it torn down all the way to the control module and plugged the DMM in to make sure I was getting voltage and then discovered my DMM was dead....
Also what are you doing out in Johnstown? You were almost in my old neck of the woods!
