Why so much issues with this???
Hi folks, I'm still searching for an S8. Came close to getting the right one with all the options I was looking for but someone beat me to it by a day.
Anyhow I keep looking at car fax details and see that often the door trim and panels seem to need repair or replacement. Can anyone tell me what the issue is with them form your experience?
Also what are the options for tunning on these engines? From what I have found only APR offered something but not sure if it is still available and how much of an improvement you see. Any info on this is also greatly appreciated.

I have no idea what you are talking about the door trim panels. I personally wouldn't worry about it.
If you are looking to tune the V10, I suggest that you look for a different car, one that has forced induction, where you can tune it. There is nothing that you are going to really get out of the engine from any type of tuning, it's normally aspirated and already has a ton of torque.
If you are looking for a higher power to weight ratio, you should consider a sports car.

As for the panels I see it in many of the service records and since i'm buying used without a warranty I want to be informed on what I may be dealing with. Here is a sample of one I was looking at.
Front door trim panel replaced/repaired
Door trim panel adjusted
Interior trim repaired
Power door/liftgate motor replaced
Fluids checked
Tire condition and pressure checked

800 for a ecu tune and/or 10k +install for a supercharger on a scary fast stock engine powering a 2 ton beast on rails is not worth it just to get marginal gains. Seriously If you ever drive in one being pushed half as hard as possible you would rethink messing with the engine.
Not sure about the Door trim thing. I removed the rear door trim to replace a window shade and it felt as if i was going to break it to try and get it off. As for chipping paint on buttons... thats another story.

Net, some idiosyncrasy of some set of cars you are looking at w/ door trim. Nicely finished part of car, but relatively low incidence of any issues with it or inside door. Window switches, motors etc. thus generally reliable. D3's are typically quiet without many interior rattles and related quality issues at higher miles. If those have your attention, I would probably bone up more on D3 watch areas--read past posts, do some searches, etc. Thus, be thinking front control arms, trunk motors and a few other things; depends on years and motors too.
The description you posted from the listings BTW was oh so generic. Don't read too much into it without better info. For example, using my special car slang generic code mediocrity translator, I can guess the "power door/liftgate motor replaced" was likely actually the power trunk motor, a known D3 weak spot. But, it could also have been a comfort door lock assembly, which sometimes fail at the push button you use to lock it. Still failure rate is low even on those and given age of car; nothing like the Tesla handles for example that notoriously come apart and leave car inaccessible.

The Fine Oil Separator can't keep up during high RPM/low load conditions, so a bypass valve opens and allows unfiltered vaporized oil into the intake.
Only thing certain is death, taxes, and carbon buildup.
Before I do the cleaning I am going to install a vent to atmosphere fitting to the hollow bracket opposite to where it attaches, and block the path to the intake.

I drive a minimum of 100 miles a day and consider my s8 as reliable if not more reliable than my old 4 runner.
