Default Wiring instructions for new tail lights for early '07 S8's

On early '07 S8's, wires must be run from the rear fender lights to the lid lights in order for the directionals to light across both lamps. On the left side, from pin 7 on the lid lamp (should be a green wire), run wire to pin 5 on the outer tail lamp (should be purple and green). On the right hand side, from pin 7 on the lid lamp (should be a green wire), run wire to pin 5 on the outer tail lamp (should be white and blue). The connecting wires run through the existing harnesses and through the trunk lid hinge tubing. Good luck.

I just installed my updated tail lights and am wondering what the best way to tap into those pins is. Anyone ever done this sort of thing?

Yeah, I did the updated lights on my 07' a while back. Photo here. If you've ever done stereo wiring it's basically the same. I got an 8' section of new wire, cut the old wire like 6 inches before the pin/connector, and then spliced into it with a crimp connector.

I was always confused by this, as I also have read that extra wiring was needed to be ran to the trunk lid mounted lights, but I just installed the facelift tail lights into my 2005 A8L W12 and needed no wiring of any kind at all, just plug and play, why is that, because I ordered Euro lights ?
Also as seen in the pictures, my inner brake lights work as they should, and when the rear fogs are on I have just outer brake lights, I understand this to be proper operation

Interesting, because I get an error when I use my blinkers, something other threads people complain about.

I have these blinkers, amber as pictured, I had asked this question in one of my threads but never got the answer, so do you have the amber turn signal strip, or the both inner and outer tail lights as a red turn signal ?

It is my brake lights that blink when I hit the blinker.

So all that clear lens area does nothing on your outer light, and only a very small portion of the inner clear lens is for the reverse light, that's what made me wonder if it was coding to ROW that gave the amber turn signal, or if what you guys ordered was a different part number and the clear lens area has nothing inside on the lights some on here have purchased, it just seems odd to me...
