***Stupid Questions(s) Alert***
OK, So I've purchased at 2012 "new to me" lease return car at the beginning of this year. A8L with the executive seating package. I LOVE this car. I've had several BMW 5 and 7 series cars over the years and can honestly this car buries them.
Now However, I am starting to have remorse about this car. I was looking for a 2014/2015 A8 but stumbled across this car by accident and fell in love with the interior. Nougat with the massage seats. As a 47 year old guy, these are quite nice on the longer trips. Anyway, deep down, I knew I wanted the twin turbo power plant, but I drove the car, was happy and got it for a steal as a lease return with about 40k miles on it.
Now, here I am a few months down the road and I want/need more power, but can find NOTHING?? I find tons of things for the 4.2 power plant in the RS5 and R8, but nothing for this car?? I've googled and read threads, etc., but thought I would ask this group directly:
1) Are any of the supercharger options that seem to be available for the R8/RS5 with the 4.2 power plant available for this car?
2) If not, are there any ECU tuning options to kill certain things like the speed limiter??
I'm seriously thinking to go on the hunt for a car with the 4.0T power plant. At least I'm reading some things there, that leave me hopeful, like swapping the larger turbos from the RS7/S8 or even just a simple ECU tune? I love the longer car. I don't need it, but I love it. I want to stay in the L if possible, but I really need to lean on the collective expertise of this group. HELP!

Nothing exists for the 4.2 in the D4, not without spending so much money that you may as well sell it and find a 4.0t. I tried to find someone with at least a tune to defeat the limiter, but all I found was a company in Germany that wanted over $2000 for it, and it gave no real hp gain.

If you lust for the 4.0 TT just get one ASAP and cut your losses, don't bother with motor upgrades etc... I just got into a 2013 S8 and the 4.0 TT was the main selling point for sure !

It's a different engine. It's the same displacement and type, and yes a lot is shared, but the 450hp output in the RS5 and 430hp in the R8 those years is achieved through enough internal differences to mean that parts and tunes for those models aren't going to help you with the 372hp 4.2 the A8 has.

That explains a LOT! Thanks, everyone for taking the time to respond. Now the decision is, to cut this car loose and find an S8 (which will have to be the S8 Plus because that's just how I am) or to just keep this as a daily driver and go pure sports car mode and find an R8? Decisions Decisions!
