Can you describe the exact moment when it seized? While driving? Noise? Morning? It can be something as trivial as coolant leak into a cylinder. D3 guys would go that way.

I occurred in the evening, engine was at operating temp. I was accelerating onto the highway when I got a message to not exceed 4000 rpm then immediately lost power. I pulled to the shoulder and attempted a restart. It restarted, then died and would not restart. I was able to pull two fault codes, P000D and P0321.

A seized engine will stick and not turn over. This does not sound like the case here if that's the way it went down.

A seized engine locks up and is unable to turn over at the crankshaft after seizing. Sounds like you lost fuel or spark is all.

Nothing major there with those codes. Ignition failure I'd suspect.

That was my initial reaction therefore the dealer's diagnosis of seized engine caught me off guard. I will be shipping it to another dealer next week for a second opinion. Unfortunately the closest is 150 miles away.

P0321 engine won't start but if the battery is OK starter would turn it. Can it?

The other one is about camshaft adjustment. VCDS scan would help more.
